ML decided to go ahead and leave, he was in for enough of a journey as it was, and waiting wasn't going to help. If he was going to start anywhere, the best place to start would be to go to the place where the blade was stolen. After walking for a few hours, he passed through a small village. Since the blade had gone missing, everyone had been acting strangely, and something was definitely going on here. He held his sword close as he passed, and just as he was leaving he heard a screeching from behind him. He turned around and two villagers, one with a hatchet and another with a large knife charging at him.
ML drew his sword and knocked the hatchet from the man's hands as he smashed his foot into the other man's chest. The villager he had kicked died instantly while the other one picked up his friend's knife and swung at ML. Making a quick strike through the man's back, the second villager dropped to his knees. Rather than falling over, he stood up, almost seeming unharmed and charged ML again. Another swing of his sword and the man had the sword driven through his body again, but still seemed as though he had been untouched.
Seconds later, the man dead on the ground stood up and picked up the hatchet and made a hard swing at ML's neck. The battle of the three continued for a few more minutes, until ML gave a good swing with his sword, knocking off the arm of the man he'd kicked earlier. He paused only a moment to look at it, then picked up the axe and continued to swing, but much less accurately. Using this against them, ML used his sword to fling the axe into the other man when they both ran for him, knocking the axe straight into his head. The stabbed man fell to his knees and then to the ground with the blow of the axe, and he finally stopped moving after a few seconds.
The armless man gave a charge and ML swung for his head, making a perfect strike at the neck, ending the battle immediately. The two men seemed to be zombies, from how they charged without thought and how they took each lethal blow without even so much as flinching, and it took a destructive blow to the head to end them. Whatever was going on it was bizzare, and the sooner he found that sword the better. ML took off quickly from the village and into the woods. He continued on...
