Which is it?

Your answer has to be supported by a 14-page essay.

My local accent actually kind of "eats" the second "t" in situations like this. I mean, there's a slight pause where the "t" would be, but...

It happens to words like "mountain", "fountain", "Clinton"...

In this case, it would be something like "tie_n" or "Thai_n"...

I've always found that accent strange.

I wish google translate had an option to select different accents for the listen function!

Other than that feature, my accent is pretty much "Hollywood English" or "American Standard English."

I think it's called a glottal stop.

I do this too I think.

Kind of related, I took this quiz that guess where you're from based on how you say words (only guesses places in the US) and I got somewhere between NYC and LA which I thought was interesting because I learned the majority of English from TV and movies.

I have a few weird pronunciation quirks here and there like I'd say 'man' and a little weird if I'm using it in the context of "oh man", or "c'mon man" or whatever (which I think might be a Toronto thing) and I realized I started saying "been" like "bin" rather than "bean" sometimes too.
Not sure where that came from but yeah words are a funny thing.

It's not quite a glottal stop, but that's a good approximation.

My "been" is more like "bin" usually, too.
